
Money Smart Wisconsin promotes financial literacy awareness and provides financial education classes, activities, and opportunities for Wisconsin’s citizens by working with consumers and bringing together different organizations to help them share expertise and leverage limited resources, and expand community participation.
Dozens of communities across the state will participate in Money Smart Week Wisconsin April 15-21, 2023, with events focused on improving the personal financial awareness and education of Wisconsin citizens. Money Smart Wisconsin is the highlight of April being national financial literacy awareness month, a collaborative effort by state and federal agencies and private-sector groups to raise awareness about the importance of financial literacy. The Governor’s Council on Financial Literacy and Capability, in partnership with the Department of Financial Institutions is spearheading Money Smart Wisconsin along with many volunteer organization throughout Wisconsin.

As part of Money Smart Wisconsin, the Wisconsin Coalition on Student Debt and its partner organizations sponsored the 2023 Money Smart Scholarship Contest where Wisconsin’s graduating high school seniors were encouraged to answer this year’s “Money Smart” Question for a chance to win one of twelve scholarships, awarded as a $1,000 contribution to an Edvest account. Winners will be announced soon!
